Our journey didn’t quite end in Cambodia, and we couldn’t resist adding a Thai finale, beginning in the dramatic landscapes of Krabi. Here, towering limestone karsts rise almost vertically from the earth, sculpted over thousands of years and surrounded by lush greenery, beaches and the occasional rubber plantation. Naturally, our now-traditional mode of transport, the slightly questionable scooter, made another appearance, carrying us through winding roads, coastal views and the kind of scenery that makes you stop every few minutes “just for one more photo.” Krabi felt spacious and calm, a place where nature quietly steals the show.
From there, we traded cliffs for controlled chaos and arrived in one of our favourite cities on earth, Bangkok, a city that somehow blends tradition, intensity and warmth into something completely unique. Home to well over 10 million people, Bangkok hums with life at every hour, from street food stalls to hidden alleyways and gleaming temples. We were incredibly fortunate to experience some of Bangkok through a different lens, joining guided walks with two inspirational photographers, Kars Tuinder and Tim Russell. Both have spent years uncovering the city’s lesser-seen corners, and once again they didn’t disappoint. We were led deep into neighbourhoods the average visitor would never stumble upon (and quite possibly never escape without help), discovering layers of Bangkok that felt authentic, chaotic and endlessly fascinating.
As always, it was the people who left the strongest impression, they were welcoming, patient and unfailingly friendly, even as we pointed cameras in all directions. Bangkok proved to be the perfect finale to our epic trip, it was vibrant, unpredictable and full of heart. We left tired, inspired, and already planning our return.
