December 2022 and our first trip to Sweden, and this was hot on the heels of Budapest so clearly we are playing travel catch up from the misery of lockdown.
Apparently, if it gets as low as -10 in Stockholm then that is a real event......... it went to -16!!! We were very well armed with warm clothing and appropriate footwear, and as a the Scandinavians like to say "there is no bad weather, only bad clothes!"
These temperatures, combined with limited daylight, made for some quite challenging photography conditions. That said, the Scandinavians are experts in cold weather and absolutely nothing came to a standstill because of the below normal temperatures. The toddlers at kindergarten were all outside playing, the roads were open and everyone was going about their business, unlike this part of the world which goes into full blown meltdown at the first sign of a snowflake!.
In summary, Stockholm is beautiful at this time of year, but I would love to visit in spring or summer so that I could explore the many other islands that make up this wonderful city.
