Finally ............ back on foreign soil for the first time since March 2020, and what a great choice we made.
Ok, whilst I say "we made", what really happened was that my lovely other half hit me with "I'm bored and I'm not waiting until 2023 to go somewhere overseas, let's go to Budapest". Clearly I submitted to that order after offering up zero resistance, so we booked it for November 2022.
Despite the best efforts of British Airways to lose our luggage, we did eventually make it to this magnificent city. Firstly, nearly everyone speaks English which was a huge relief as my Hungarian was somewhat rusty, or should I say, none existent! In addition to removing any language barriers, the Hungarians are a real pleasure to be around as they are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and grateful for the income brought in by tourism.
I have to mention food, this place is a must for any foodies like us. There are endless choices of fantastic eateries and the prices are very affordable. Then there is the public transport which is also very reliable and cheap. Given that this is a big city, having the option of using trams etc to save your feet is real bonus. That said, exploring on foot is the best way to see the awesome architecture.
On this particular trip I was breaking in my new Fuji XH2 and all of the photos you will see on here were taken with my new camera. I certainly enjoyed the photo opportunities and my camera has done a very decent job of helping me to bring home some great memories.
So, if you have never been, then I can certainly recommend Budapest. This is easily one of my new favourite places!
