Kerys agreed to do some modeling for me today so that I could try out a few new ideas. Well when I said she agreed, a cash incentive was involved!!!! (got to admire the business woman in her!!)
We set off for Vazon and it was my intention to get her backlit via the glorious sunlight whilst I used the flash to avoid silhouetting. The sun decided to make an appearance for roughly 14 seconds at 3:26 this afternoon, but we blinked and missed it.
Not to worry, plan B kicked into action and Kerys earned her money as I fiddled around with various lenses e.t.c. and her mum threw in some creative suggestions. All in all it was a great team effort and I think it went rather well.
Hope you like them :-)
So from today I have got a few days off work, time to load up the camera bag and take lots of photos starting with those that I need for tomorrow nights competition (organised as ever!).
Slight hitch, the usual tropical temperatures and mild winds of Guernsey have been replaced with 7ft of rain and a double hurricane!!!! What the hell, I headed out anyway and wombled around town with my Fish Eye lens looking a few different shots whilst trying to avoid the downpours.
As it stands I still need the shots for tomorrow nights compo, in the meantime here are a couple that I managed to capture this morning :-)
Le Petit Cafe
This weekend I was lucky enough to tear myself away from the highly pleasurable joys of constructing flat pack furniture so that I could spend a couple of hours doing a photo shoot with Chloe Roussel.
Chloe is a sensational dancer so we decided to focus the shots on her abilities & mega-flexible moves. When we first started Chloe asked me to show her what I wanted her to do, as you will see from the pictures I was completely unable demonstrate these moves without having to spend the next 3 weeks with a physio and getting a new plastic hip fitted!!!
Big thanks to Chloe for her extreme patience with me as I adjusted the light, changed position, flash on flash off e.t.c. e.t.c. about a bazillion times. Hopefully the results have paid off and I have managed to do justice to this highly talented, graceful & elegant young lady. I'm now off into the garden to practice my flying splits, ouch! :-)
After two weeks of lording it in the sun, eating too much, drinking too much, spending too much and chilling out to the point of being in a coma the dismal reality of returning home has finally arrived. Arriving back in Guernsey last night to a 'tropical' 15 degrees was very sobering and depressing in equal measures, then again that is a sign that we had a fantastic time in Valencia.
The photo opportunities were sensational and I could have easily spent the entire 2 weeks bumming around with my camera. There were a few photography disasters including me spending over 2 hours at night trying to successfully capture lightning from a huge storm, whilst I did capture the lightning the shots were all a pile of 'you know what' so they are now proudly displayed in the Trash Folder!
Here are the last couple of shots from the trip that I thought were worthy of sharing, thank you for all the positive feedback and comments from earlier blogs and I will now have to try and find something interesting to blog about in Guernsey. 'Paint Drying' shots/blog to follow soon.........!!!!!! ;-)
