A photography friend of mine, Samantha Robson, got in touch and asked if I could take some summer shots of her and her family down at the beach. We agreed a date and ordered a perfect sunset............................errr which didn't turn up!!! Never mind, we carried on regardless and although the sun did a disappearing act it still left us with an interesting sky to work with.
The big challenge given to me was to get a nice shot of Rhys and Caitlyn together, the kids did great and were a pleasure to shoot which made the challenge quite easy (big relief!!!). Mum & Dad AKA Samantha & Karl also rose to the occasion after a little encouragement ;-)
As the evening progressed the temperature dropped, but fair play to all the family as they were up for a little bit of messing around with coloured flash gels e.t.c. it certainly kept Rhys & Caitlyn amused choosing various spooky colours for old buildings.
Big thanks to the family and I wish Samantha and Karl all the very best for their big wedding day next year.
I hope you like my favourite shots from the shoot below.

For a long time I have been wanting to take photos of the local power boat racing and last weekend the opportunity arose courtesy of friend, Diogo Freitas, who is one of the navigators.
I was instructed to meet this guy at the pits whereby I would be taken out on a boat to take my shots. My expectations were to be shipped out on some smelly fishing trawler whilst the owner brought his crab pots in. To my surprise however I was taken out on a 37ft Fairline cabin cruiser, ever so slightly better than expected and big thanks to Mark & Debs Sauvarin for allowing me on board.
My intentions were to do a load of panning shots to accurately portray the speed of these huge V8 monsters, whilst I did manage to achieve this I took over 1000 shots in an hour the get the required result. As well as the speed I also had to contend with the swell out to sea, try and imagine capturing photos of something doing 80mph whilst bouncing on a trampoline, all good fun!!!
Below are the results of my efforts and it's not every day you get the Queen Mary 2 as a backdrop!!! Hope you like them.
